MY PET HAS A SPECIAL DIET. CAN THEIR NEEDS BE ACCOMMODATED?
Of course! Provide us the food and instructions and leave the rest to us.
WHAT DO YOU SUPPLY FOR OVERNIGHT BOARDING?
41K9 provides bowls. You bring your dog's food, toys and bedding. If your dog requires a special bowl such as a slow feeder you are responsible for providing the special bowl to 41K9.
HOW CAN I CHECK ON MY PET DURING THEIR STAY?
41K9 is working to install webcams that will be viewable 24/7/365 from anywhere in the world. Our internet capabilities are limited and uploading the content is proving difficult. 41K9 leadership needs time to work on these webcams to get them functioning properly. We do record our entire operation live on a 16-piece LOREX security system with mulitple-day playback for full transparency and safety.
Once installed the webcams will be public and viewable from our website. Our staff currently posts LIVE stories and frequent content on social media. Check our Facebook or Instagram for photos or videos. If you ever want to see how your dog is doing, simply reach out to us for an update and we are happy to provide you one and maybe even a few pictures or videos!
WHAT EXACTLY IS DOGGY DAYCARE? AND WHAT'S DOG BOARDING?
Dog Daycare is a term for supervised, indoor pack play during the daytime, but not overnight. Our daycare services run from 6am-7pm weekdays and 8am-7pm weekends. During this time dogs are fully supervised and enjoy playing with each other in a separate daycare space. Potty breaks are provided free of charge.
Dog Boarding closely relates to a hotel for dogs. Dogs stay overnight in a hand-built boarding room. Owners book a reservation for their dog for as long as they desire. Dogs are fed meals, allowed potty breaks and may participate in daycare playtime during their stay if the owner chooses.
HOW DO YOU SEPERATE DOGS IN DAYCARE?
We separate dogs based on temperament and energy levels. Doing so allows your dog to be in an environment where they burn the most energy and avoid stress.
DO ACCIDENTS HAPPEN?
Though we strive to provide a safe environment for dogs to play, accidents happen. Most accidents are from your dog having fun and playing. Scratches, punctures and soreness rarely occur, but do happen from dogs running and wrestling with each other. There are some occasions of aggression that cause injury, but they are very infrequent.
CAN MY DOG GET SICK FROM DAYCARE?
It is very possible for your dog to get sick at, or from daycare. Even if they are vaccinated for an illness, vaccines are not 100% effective. It is just like a child going to daycare.
HOW DOES A DOG GET BORDETELLA (KENNEL COUGH)?
Bordetella, or more commonly kennel cough, is contracted like the common cold. It is a virus that is brought in by dogs. It is NOT something that is created at a kennel or daycare. The vaccination for kennel cough protects a dog from a specific strain (or strains) that are in the vaccination. The virus can mutate, like any other virus, and can be passed on to dogs even if they have current vaccinations. It is like the flu shot for humans, you can get the vaccination, but could possibly still get the flu.
HOW DO I KEEP TRACK OF VACCINATIONS?
Please bring in, or have your vet fax over, any new information about updated vaccinations. Our system needs to be manually updated, so we need new records from the vet to do so. Our protocol is to ask about vaccinations that we see are expired in our system. Getting us updated information will allow us to update the system and avoid asking you about it every time you come in.
WHAT IS A PERSONALITY AND TEMPERAMENT TEST?
Temperament tests are the introduction of your dog to our pack environment. We let your dog into our play areas by his/herself, so that he/she can sniff around and get a sense of the other dogs that are here. Once they are used to the new environment, we will put a dog in with that matches his/her energy level. As soon as your dog is comfortable with that dog, we will put in another dog, and so on. When your dog has adjusted, we will integrate him/her into the pack and we will monitor their behavior to see how they reacts to pack play.
WHAT IF MY DOG DOES NOT PASS THE PERSONALITY AND TEMPERAMENT TEST?
There are many reasons that your dog may not pass the test. Aggression is the main one, whether it be towards other dogs or staff. Some other reasons would be: fear of the pack, jumping fences, barking in other dogs faces, targeting other dogs, mounting excessively, not responding to commands, excessive anxiety and more. If your dog has any of these, we may not be the right place for your dog. We will give you guidance on what we are seeing and options on what you could do. You may still be able to board your dog here, just without the daycare services. Guests need to understand that daycare may not be appropriate for all dogs.
WHAT IF MY DOG GETS SICK DURING A STAY OR NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION?
If your dog is ill, we will notify you and look for direction from you on what you would like us to do. If it is an emergency, we will take immediate action with our veterinary partners (TBD) to get your dog the attention they need. If we cannot get in touch with you, we will contact the person you provided as your emergency contact on your information form.
